Convenience Expo Grows
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 30 Jun 2004
The convenience industry now has a new home, with the organisers of our largest food and hospitality exhibition announcing they will be running a dedicated show for convenience store operators within their existing event.
Director of the Fine Food exhibition Timothy Collett says “the c-store industry has probably changed more in the last twelve months than the last twelve years. We see this as an exciting and important sector that needs its own focus.”
The event will be known as “Convenience World” and it will sit within the international Fine Food exhibition. It will be just like a stand-alone tradeshow within a larger event with its own branding, catalogue, ticket, seminars and information booth.
The big question is why convenience suppliers and buyers would support a convenience section within a larger show rather than a dedicated convenience event.
According to Mr Collett the answer is clear. He says “the c-store industry is undergoing rapid change. They are no longer just service stations or milk-bars. They are a petrol station, café, supermarket, canteen, newsagent, bakery and more rolled into one. At Fine Food they can see all their regular contacts and discover hundreds of new ideas”.
The show has serious industry support. Peter Jowett from the Australasian Association of Convenience Stores says “Convenience World at Fine Food has our full backing. Our members are looking to expand their business and we see this one of the most powerful vehicles for suppliers and operators to achieve growth in their business”.
AACS will be running a seminar series at the show as well as store tours, board meetings, information sessions and the annual gala dinner. Plus members will be able to relax and talk business in the exclusive AACS lounge on the show floor.
Fine Food Australia is the largest food and hospitality exhibition in Australia. It runs annually and alternates between Melbourne and Sydney. It regularly attracts over 700 exhibitors and 25,000 trade visitors. This year it will be staged in Melbourne from 6-9 September.
